AnimeNext 2004 - Scans
Below is the most linear format I could think of for displaying pictures and merchandise I scanned while at AnimeNext 2004. Everything is as organized by the time the picture was taken/the item was purchased as possible from the memories of myself and my friends who also attended. All of the images below are thumbnails, and larger versions of the images can be obtained by clicking on the thumbnails. Even larger versions of images are available as well, but if you want those you will have to contact me personally at elly@reisei-sa.net. Please include a relative subject for what you're asking for, since I get a lot of e-mails asking for things from different websites of mine. Thank you, and please enjoy!
PS: If you are in any of the pictures below, and would like to be removed from this page, please feel free to contact me about it. Everything written here is in good fun, and it's not meant to be taken seriously, but in the event that you are made to feel uncomfortable or angry, let us know and your picture will be removed.
Day 1 - Friday, June 18th, 2004
Shortly after arriving at the Crown Plaza Hotel where the convention took place, we were informed that our room would not be ready until 3 PM and that we would have to wait around and haul luggage until then. Realizing we were going to be in the lobby with bags of stuff for somewhere close to 3 hours, my good friend Molly and I decided to change into our cosplay costumes.

I ran around taking pictures of various people...the pictures themselves came out pretty good, considering I paid about 10 dollars in development and Molly paid for the actual disposable camera itself (yes, bear with it, not *everyone* can afford to have a digital camera). I had to do a *lot* of editing to get the pictures to come out half-way visible, so if you decide to post these images on a forum, or your own website, or something, at least drop me a link. It's the least you can do ^^;
Friday night itself was not very exciting. I played a bit of DDR Extreme in the exhibition (and was around for this amazing guy who had a 1300 combo on maniac level songs!) but didn't get any grabs of that. I hung out in the Dealer's Room and purchased a few little goodies, some of which will be shown and talked about below. Food was cheap, since we didn't eat the stuff they were serving downstairs (which I believe was chicken fingers and french fries) and instead opted to get a Domino's special of 3 pizzas for $15. When that cost is split between 4 people, and each person gets 6 slices of pizza...the deal is pretty good. The food was tasty, and I got to watch all of FLCL since Pat brought up his DVDs of it. I watched the first 13 episodes of PGSM while there, since they were showing it in one of the viewing rooms. The player kept freezing the sound here and there, but otherwise the quality was good. I suspect they were using TV Nihon encoded episodes. The subtitles were rather accurate, though. The beds in the hotel were semi-comfortable after you got rid of the annoying top comforter, which was insanely itchy. Molly and Pat fell asleep dead away, and soon after Tim and I did the same...

Below are the things I bought from the Dealer's Room and the people who's picture I took on Friday. Please enjoy them!
Day 2 - Saturday, June 19th, 2004
Waking up at the bright and early time of 11:45 AM, Molly and I decided to hit the Dealer's Room once again. After briefly stopping by a workshop entitled "Senshi Re-invented: 10 years of Sailor Moon", and deciding that we didn't want to sit around and be lectured to on something we know far better than the panelists, and watch movies of Sailor Moon that we've already seen a thousand times, we left to the Dealer's Room. On the way, we encountered a rather long line into the Dealer's Room, and decided to kill time by taking pictures:
Into the Dealer's Room...
After we finally made it into the Dealer's Room, Molly and I were quite dissappointed as we found out that some of the prices had gone up, and that it was really crowded. I didn't buy a lot of stuff, but what I did get I was quite happy to find. I wasn't planning on being able to find anything PGSM related at the convention, even though it is the 10 year anniversary of Sailor Moon in the U.S. and they showed PGSM. PGSM-related merchandise is expensive just in shipping alone since it's from Japan, and the actual stuff is kind of expensive too. Combine that with the fact that the number of PGSM fans is nowhere near the number of Sailor Moon fans, and you have an equation for a PGSM-merchandise-less convention. How very wrong I was.

I actually bought more than cards! I swear!
Below is an odd assortment of the various nicknacks and things that were small and cute that caught my attention. Pleae note that the items in actuality are rather small, so even when scanned on a 1600 x 1200 resolution scanner with 700 dpi, the actual image itself is still going to be rather small. I realize that these thumbnails look a bit weird, but trust me, the item itself is still cute!
Over Already?
Unfourtunately, even though we had already paid for weekend passes and hotels and the like, we had to cut our convention short due to problems with housing for my pet, Lily. We had a great time, but hopefully next convention will not end so shortly. After I got home, I found another few Sailor Moon goodies that I figured I'd scan, since they snuck their way into my bag full of things to be scanned anyway. Please enjoy, and look forward to another page like this in the near future! Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
Alas! A cornucopia of manga!
Being obsessed with Sailor Moon in its anime, manga, and sentai forms, I just *had* to keep up with buying the re-released versions of the manga. While I did not buy this complete set at the convention, I did buy volumes 8-10 there. However, since I was scanning a bunch of stuff anyway, I figured I might as well throw in my manga. Please enjoy!
