"Who's That Guy?" + January 14, 2008

   Actress and singer Anna Tsuchiya's (23) new single "Cocoon" (on sale the 30th) has appearances by actor Tadanobu Asano (34) and actress Keiko Kitagawa (21) as part of the "Who's That Guy?" wrap-up of the DoCoMo 2.0 series. It'll be on-air starting the 12th.

   In the commercial, magician Asano and assistant and lover (?) Kitagawa, are together watching Tsuchiya's new promotional video using the 905i series new "Music & Video Channel" service. On screen a man who looks like Asano appears. "Isn't that you there?" a suspicious Kitagawa asks, but Asano feigns ignorance. Tsuchiya's cool song and Asano's characteristic personality are both introducing the new service in their own way. The Cocoon PV can be seen on that new service starting the 11th.

    Basically, the DoCoMo 2.0 CM series is coming to an end *sniffles* and god, wasn't it awesome while it lasted? Named one of the best commercial campaigns of 2007---it will definitely be missed. It's got me wondering about the initial character introduction commercials they filmed and why they never aired, but whatever. 'Who's That Guy?" features Keiko so I'm a happy camper. Judging from the commercial that can now be viewed on the DoCoMo page here and here, Cocoon is looking to be a ridiculously cool PV. Don't Keiko and Asano look awesome together?

   The commercial is SO kawaii. As the article above states, Keiko is viewing Anna's PV on her new DoCoMo phone service. When she asks Asano if it's him in the PV he goes, "No, no! Of course not!" and Keiko's like "But I'm sure it's you!" and he goes "It looks more like Eita than it does me!" So cute! In the "Making Of" of the commercial (watch it  here) Keiko asks people around her "Excuse me, doesn't  that look like him to you?" Lol. It's so incredibly pink in that setting, ne? Such a cute place filled with pretty girls---the kind of place a boyfriend might take a girlfriend, ne? In the article posted on the DoCoMo main site, the director informed Keiko and Asano of a new character development. They're lovers! "What-?" Keiko and Asano are both surprised, "We're such an odd couple!" Don't get excited now, in real life Asano is married and they're just acting! In the extended version of the TV-CM you see Keiko interacting with people other than Asano. The different camera angles and surprise of the additional actresses is adlibbing on Keiko's part as requested by the director. Aside from a basic outline, the entire commercial is adlibbed---and very well, ne? It's an awesome commercial.

   Although the translated article says Keiko is to appear in Anna's PV *sighs* sadly, only Asano makes an appearance. The commercials should be here to download in a jiffy!
